BILBOA Inetrnational Art&fashion (bilaf)

The objetive of this contest is twofold:

  • 1. To provide a framework within which both the media and the public can get to know young designers, who in turn will have a chance to commercialise their collections.
  • 2. To work towards promoting fashion as a true cultural asset, serving both society as a whole and the dignity of the individual, and to highlight its close and necessary relationship with artistic values.

Given its international character, this event seeks to provide intercultural enrichment in terms of the different ways of seeing how art and fashion relate to each other.

For added merit, the designs which are entered should include some relationship with the world of art:

  a) from a historical or creative point of view,
  b) in the inspiration behind the piece itself,
  c) through specific references: fabric prints, accessories etc.

The contest has two phases:

  • 1. 3 months after the announcement of the contest has been made public, a Roda Commission, set up specifically for the competition and made up of professionals of recognised prestige with in the sector, will choose 30 candidates from amongst contestants in both categories. These candidates will be asked to complete the manufacture of their three designs in fabric and to present their accessories as finished articles in their definitive materials.
  • 2. During the second phase, and after a period of two and a half months for the execution of the work, a jury called for the occasion will select a winner in each category from amongst the 30 candidates chosen by the aforementioned Roda Commission.
